Will Cross-Platform Play Be Available in Diablo II: Resurrected?

The highly anticipated action RPG, Diablo II: Resurrected, has finally launched on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. As fans eagerly dive into the world of Sanctuary, one question remains on everyone's mind - will cross-platform play be available in the game?

Unfortunately, at launch, the answer is no. In an interview with IGN Middle East, Game Producer Matthew Cederquist explained that while they considered cross-play as part of their research on cross-progression, it ultimately didn't feel like the right fit for the game. 'The game has different UIs, control schemes, and stuff like that,' he said.

Executive Producer Rod Fergusson also weighed in, stating that cross-play is something they are looking at, but it won't be available at launch. Principal Designer Rob Gallerani echoed this sentiment, telling Eurogamer that while there will be global leaderboards, players won't be able to play with each other immediately.

So, what does this mean for fans of the Diablo series? While cross-progression has been implemented, allowing players to access their characters and progress across different platforms, cross-platform play remains a feature that is not available. It's unclear if it will be added in a post-launch update, but for now, players will have to level up their characters without the ability to play with friends on other platforms.
